Grief is the final expression of love. We cannot control its appearance and it's proof of how deeply we have loved. When my father died, my brother and I were talking about how grief struck we were, and I said I would not want it any other way. It shows me how deeply I love him.
The trailer for "Tuesday" brought on tears. I'll need plenty of tissues handy when I watch the film. I loved "The Americans" and have been waiting patiently for "The Diplomat" to be available at my library. Yes, Veronica, that *is* the sound of my fingernails tapping on the counter.
I cry easily but I only had one moment where I cried during this film surprisingly! And HA to the last statement...You need to watch "The Diplomat" - Maybe "need" is too strong. It's entertaining. Have you watched "The worst person in the world" yet? Ready for the Sunday send-off of our Romance Film Lovers club?
She’s a bit much but excusably so. She is so young. She’s not really in touch with her agency or in full possession of the power she holds over these men
First, thank you so much for mentioning my post here.
I have not seen Tuesday but based on your discussion it sounds like a great film which I will be sure to check out, at some point. As for reading I guess the closest to romance I get is F. Scott Fitzgerald books. Ever since reading The Great Gatsby in high school I have loved his writing style but mostly stuck with his short stories which seemed to blend romance, heartbreak, and a feeling of despair. I read his first book This Side of Paradise this year and thought it was an excellent book about a young man's experience in university, war, and his first heat break.
As for Julia Louis-Dreyfus I guess my favourite performance of hers, that I have seen, has to be Elaine in Seinfeld. Seinfeld is a show I am constantly going back to so that performance stands out the most to me.
Thank you for writing such a compelling review of The Substance!
As for F. Scott Fitzgerald - I get it. I loved all his work. I felt the same about Hemingway when I read him around the same time - young man, war, coming of age, heart break...
You must watch "Veep" for JLD! She's incredible in that series.
Why do people always have to get involved in car accidents in romantic shows / movies 😭. It sounds like the novel you mentioned has a positive twist though so I might consider it :). I'm just slightly traumatized after watching a certain Netflix romcom from earlier this year that shall not be named.
I haven't started season 2 of Shrinking yet but I'm dying to. Season 1 was soooo good!
I loved season 1. Definitely follow Alise Chaffins - she writes about Shrinking too and posted about the new season already!
Thanks for the rec! Going to find her now. :)

It's in my Kanopy watchlist & I'll revise in time to trash Julie. She's not the *worst* person, but geez, she's annoying! 🤪

Hm, hold that thought. See you Sunday (my Monday morning)!
