Love this take on the Gentlemen, Beth. Completely agree with your analysis - and also agree that Jimmy should've stayed as a "light" role rather than getting him mixed up in a lacklustre sideplot. But overall I loved it - particularly the cinematography and the writing
Thanks Zan! And yes there was too much Jimmy as time went on. There were more effective ways to show Suzie’s warmth and vulnerability - notably her relationship with her family.
Your high praise is almost convincing me. I have truly hated almost everything Guy Ritchie has directed since 2000s Snatch. I can't say I've watched all 15 films, but after the godawful Sherlock Holmes I wasn't going to risk it again. I won't promise I'll watch it, but your arguments are very persuasive.
