great piece, Beth! I definitely want to check out Jury Duty. That’s high on my list. I gave up after one and a half episodes of After Party season 1. I just didn’t find it funny, despite many of my favorite actors being on the show. Unless the writers strike goes for another year, I likely won’t be watching season 2. And i made the mistake of putting on Hijack two nights ago around 11pm and couldn’t fall asleep for 3 hours! Sure, there are cliches aplenty but it sucked me right in! Now I know to watch it much earlier.
I completely understand the compulsion to keep watching Hijack even though it’s probably not the best show to watch prior to sleep. You have to give “The Afterparty” season 2 a try!
I just put The After Party on my watch list and now your rec has me even more anxious to start it.
Also, sick bingeing is special. I usually tend toward some kind of exposé kind of show - watched one of the Hillsong docs yesterday when I was feeling under the weather. But yeah, some kind of docuseries is my sick go-to.
Additional recommendations to explore, especially given the rainstorms on the East Coast today :) What better way to honor a rainy day than to hit the sofa and binge entertainment -
Only Murders in The Building - Season 3 Episodes 1 & 2 are now streaming on Hulu. I can't wait. Dark Winds, Season 2 - episode 2 which released on Sunday. It's a really fine entrant into the 70s crime noirs - very real and gritty and takes place on a remote outpost of the Navajo Nation.
Physical Season 3. First two episodes have already dropped and I need to get back on that wagon.
