Sounds interesting. Always fun when a young woman save the world, guitar in hand. 👏

Yes! And when a studio will rally behind a girl saving the world. I mean when you think about it’s “Seven” from “Stranger Things” all over again

Sounds like abstract art, where instead of colours, the genres are thrown into the air and whatever lands where is what makes the story.

Convincing review! This may not have been a film that would have caught my attention, but now I’m going to give it a go!

It’s definitely different! Solid points for the music and acting. 🎭 The storytelling felt disjointed but could be related to music. Very seldom do I watch musical dramas or rock operas and feel the music complements as opposed to detracts from the film. The Greatest Showman is one of the exceptions. Up Here only got one season on Hulu but it was an effective musical love story in that the story evolution and dialogue worked hand in hand with the music. A little like Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist

It’s not greatest showman. If you start and stop I will totally get it!

Thank you for the review. I hadn't heard of the film, and I'm glad to know about it (I probably won't watch it soon, but I'm still glad to know it exists).

The quoted line about hopeless romantics sounds like something from a song lyric, but I can't place it. It has the same rhythm as, "Nobody's perfect, not even a perfect stranger. " but it sounds like a Joe Jackson lyric (I was thinking "Fools in love" but that's not really a good match, "Fools in love / Well are there any other kind of lovers / Fools in love / Is there any other kind of pain")

I don't know that I'm going to be able to find a match that I was thinking of, but I'll let you know if I do.

Thanks Nick. It’s an astute observation. It very much feels like a folk or blues type lyric

Noted onto my TBW list! I'll have to figure out where to watch it without Hulu. Thanks, Beth.

I've been looking for a new scifi movie and this seems to fit everything I enjoy. "The film’s cinematic style oozes with the retrofuturism of an 80s video and a sci-fi dystopia" -> this and some good soundtrack I'm sold.

I'll always give the benefit of the doubt to a girl with a guitar. (Or bass. Or drum sticks. Or mic. Or...) Thanks for putting it on my radar!
