Am liking this format Beth - so many shows that I hadn't heard of. You know I've been watching The Agency still and I think I got to the final episode, but can't even remember the ending (not a good sign).
Thanks! This was totally me regarding “The Agency” / Even more telling, I asked myself if I’d already seen the ending at the penultimate episode! I couldn’t remember. Oh well! Likely I’ll watch season season when it comes back in like 2028 or something
I really loved Laid as a show. I’ve got a piece coming out about it. The stand out in the show is Olivia Holt as Ruby’s love interest’s current girlfriend. Her description of the charity she works for is absolutely hilarious.
She is funny. The women without cars (carlessness). You forget like how talented she is, in the presence of Stephanie Hsu or Zosia Mamet because they are such pros. Michael Angarano is brilliant as well. It’s not just each performance, but the gestalt - them coming together as a seamless ensemble. Cue the “Cheers” theme - Mic drop. My job is done.
Oh I definitely enjoyed the main characters. Though I only found out about the show because I heard Holt was in it and I’m a fan of hers. Very glad I did watch it because of how good it is.
This was a fun read. Time to add a few more shows to my ever expanding watchlist. Sorry to hear you aren’t enjoying the Dexter prequel.
I have been binging the current season of Fire Country, somehow I missed its premiere but I found it streaming on Prime and have been catching up. It’s nothing I would shower with praise but for whatever reason it has me hooked. Sometimes it’s nice to watch something simple I guess.
Sometimes simple is best when it comes to 📺 The Sticky was a good compromise as it didn’t demand too much thinking but clearly it’s a smart, fun show. Re: Fire Country. I get it. It’s the hook. 🪝 Missing You might fall in this category for me.
Thanks for this, Beth! We just watched La Palma, which my daughter described as so bad it’s good. It’s pretty bad, but goodbad enough to sit through 4 episodes as it’s a mini series. It’s Norwegian, filmed in La Palma, Canary Islands.
Thanks Francesca! I was curious about “La Palma” and had to toggle the default dubbed language to because I knew these people weren’t speaking English!
Good bad is perfect for January. Thanks for sharing
Dan- you should! The cultural aspects and differences were interesting to me too. There have been some interesting Quebecois shows that have captured my attention in recent years. “Happily Married” and “Three Pines” (Alfred Molina) come to mind. They are all on Prime
I listened to a Redhanded episode about the Great Maple Syrup Heist. Can't wait to watch Sticky. My second book(slated for 2026) is a modern retelling of LM Montgomery's The Blue Castle. I hope there are Anne of Green Gables fans who also love that little gem.
Hahahaha noooo no more flashbacks of them singing please 😂. But I'm almost done now. I invested too much to back off.
I thought the last episode of Silo was really good! I can't wait for the finale. It was so nice to see Solo share a bit of his world and get so excited about it. And agree about Walker. I just hope no one turns against her.
The Sticky was such a fun binge for me! The cliff hangers at the end of every episode got me every time 😂 And Margo Martindale makes everything she’s in sizzle.
Thanks for sharing! The cliffhangers were great and the run time for each show perfection. I also wasn’t sure if it was a final wrap up on season 1 but that ultimate cliffhanger at the end of the season was chef’s kiss! Hope it comes back.
Vienna Blood is a slower paced show but enthralling. Its pacing and story build is well done. The Flight Attendant I really got hooked on. Season 2 less so than season 1 which could be done to novelty. I remember thinking how much Kaley Cuoco reminded me of Jennifer Aniston in her comedic physicality and timing skill!
I think you’d enjoy “The Sticky”! And you have to finish “Missing You” if only to see another flashback to the karaoke scene in the bar of the two lovebirds singing, “I ain’t missing you”!
Silo started a little slow and boring this season but the second Zahn came into it, it became electrified - probably because Juliette was a step away from becoming Tom Hanks with Wilson in Castaway in the lone Silo. And I loved the latest episode and cried at the part you can probably guess… also I really needed someone to figure out Walker’s being compromised by Bernard and use that. Hallelujah! What did you think?

Lol not enjoying as much as I want to but still watching is me and the new Dexter show as well
Welcome Kate! I think I’m still 3 episodes in. I got derailed by “The Night Agent” season 2 and “The Agency” and now “Prime Target” 😂

But remember, it’s the uncard. Not carlessness.
lol :)
Currently watching The Agency. Watched Missing You and was so pissed by the final episode. Girl, NO.
Ha! Missing You will not be missed! Watching “The Agency” too and after like ten episodes (I think?) I’m like wrap it up Fassbender!

I need to check out The Stick! Sounds like a lot of fun!

Andrea - Congrats on the book! That's amazing. I hadn't heard of this tale and now I'm hooked. I need to read "The Blue Castle"!
I also didn't know about Redhanded doing an episode on the Great Maple Syrup Heist. Can't wait to check it out.
Happy New Year!

Thank you for the clip of one of my absolute favorite Silicon Valley scenes. I must have watched that part 30 times when it first aired. So funny.
Thanks Chris. Agreed, it’s such a clutch scene and a snapshot of his character in a short clip!

Me too, I would absolutely watch a season two!
Love the way you set up this list! The Vienna show looks good. Also The Messy. I remember watching The Flight Attendant and being hooked.

I haven’t watched season 2. It was the same old ‘didn’t get it in Canada yet’ problem.
Currently watching the movie "Tarot". I'd happily settle in to a show like "Sticky", or any of your other suggestions instead!
Thanks! I don’t know this movie. Watching “Elvis” today so we can talk about it in the chat tomorrow! Looking forward.
👏👏
The Sticky was on my list and from your description it sounds perfect for me :).
You know my thoughts about "Missing You" 😂. I'll still finish it because I need to know what happens.
What did you think about the latest episode of Silo? I was glad to finally get some Juliette time! It also finally made me buy the book.
