Music icon and diva Celine Dion's latest documentary sheds light on the painful private struggles she's endured to get to some semblance of acceptance of her condition
Get yourself a dose of Ted Lasso, that always cheers me up :)
Though Celine was not my cup of tea back in her heyday, I have always admired her talent and fearlessness in being her genuine self. I do plan to watch though I'll have 'Beard After Hours' queued up just in case I need it ;)
What to watch? Hm, how about "The Angry Birds movie" (haha, get it?!). Seriously, it's funny. Also watched "Uncharted" the other night, which is like "Tintin" but with more violence, but some hilariously preposterous situations.
I just watched for the third time in my life “The Power of One” (1992) with a young Stephen Dorff playing an English boy growing up in South Africa in the 30s and 40s who becomes a boxer
Oh man, I know that this is gonna be a tough watch, but the Celine love is strong. If you haven't seen clips from the TITANIQUE musical, you're in for a treat!
Wonderful review. I do wish the filmmaker would have educated us more about SPD and I wanted to know about the other meds that help alleviate the issues. I also thought this documentary lacked story telling. (See "My Octopus Teacher" as a great example of telling a story within a documentary.)
Hubby and I have been listening to her music lately. It's heartbreaking what she's going through.
I felt very bad seeing her like this. Also it’s like one setback after another - her husband died, she’s raising her boys without a partner and then this too. It must have a breaking point when your body betrays you

Ted Lasso is a good call. Thanks Jen!!Also a shameless plug for a good read. Alise Chaffin, my Substack friend and Movie Critic just published her “Ted Lasso” book. I was a beta reader and you’re in for a treat. https://www.amazon.com/Ted-Lasso-Relationship-Guide-ebook/dp/B0D31ZX6GT

I read the book when it was new. Haven't seen the movie. Btw, the youtube clip of Celine on Jimmy Fallon is hilarious, thank you! 😆

Brace yourself! It’s so tough. It’s made me listen to her music again. I really love many of her songs.
