I just caught up with this note from last week and the residence. Both outstanding. I agree that the afterparty is the title to recommend if you enjoyed this. I'm also going to add search party into the mix.
Such fun reading this, love that The Last of Sheila was used as an episode title in The Residence. Its so surprising still that the Goggins/Aimee Lou Wood storyline has been pegged by so many as the most "normal/healthy" part of the season, I am hoping nothing terrible happens to them in the last couple episodes.
Thanks! Matthew - I think of you everytime I come across The Last of Sheila! I remember you recommended this and I must watch it. I too hope nothing bad happens to our favorite White Lotus couple. Thanks for analyzing it week to week with me! I really appreciate hearing your thoughts. Still thinking about Greg and karmaβ¦
And of course I never saw the astrology part of The White Lotus until now. Not very accurate personally though. Hubby is a capricorn and I am a libra. We used to say about him is that he is the only person we knew who was so comfortable in a 3 piece bankers suit that is what he would wear to relax. So nah, not a heavy party person. And as a libra I am very decisive and take swift action when needed. So not very accurate, but have to say fun though.
Really enjoying The Residence. Excellent script and terrific actors.
Capricorns work hard and like to make money and Libras can be very mission driven and willful about people and causes important to them. Thereβs just diplomatic π
Ok, andβ¦
I donβt know that astrology was such a big part of any other season. I have to think itβs Woodβs presence and her hankering for it thatβs lent itself to this seasonβs character and her preferences and quirks
Ok, yeah
Canβt wait to finish βThe Residenceβ tonight
Oh my god I love what you did with The Residence episode titles.
Also like to see astrology make a comeback. I think it always stayed kind of a thing in quee women circles so I'm so used to seeing people on TikTok and socials talk exactly like Chelsea π. I didn't realize it had been taboo.
I'm a Capricorn β and my partner is a Leo β. I think according to most compatibility charts we shouldn't work as a stable couple but we do so who cares. We both have a lot of traits from our sign though. Also I can totally see Laurie as a Capricorn.
I'm glad you liked the titles for the episodes' treatment for "The Residence" - I really geeked out when I saw the connections upon the first episode's watch. I couldn't contain my excitement and have mentioned ever since. Episodes 7 and 8 titles, which are books (and one screen adaptation), I didn't know!
And happy to find another astrological enthusiast. My husband is a Pisces, and I'm a Libra. Like you and your partner, it's not considered ideal compatibility,y but we make it work. I'm the first to blame Pisces' signature sensitivity (and emotional "water" sign leanings) on stuff though ;)
I can see Laurie as a Capricorn, too, and of the three blond blob, I like her the most, most of the time. The one I'm still ambivalent about on the signs list is Lochlan. Yes, the desire to make everyone be happy (harmonious), which can lead to indecision, is strong in him, trending toward Libra, but I also think he's hiding some big stuff, which is preventing him from true actualization. How do we know who he REALLY Is??
Yes totally agree for Lochlan. I think the big thing he's hiding might just be his sexuality though. Incest stuff aside, he is kind of acting like a typical teen who's struggling with coming out / accepting his own gayness.
I was looking for serious suspense and wasn't sure how 'quirky' the humour was going to be, given the trailer. TBH I was thinking I'll watch an episode and then decide...My energy-to-try threshold, 'or must be good to continue watching fuse' is low right now.
Now you know why I use your, Maria's and Enrico's publications to help me filter my TBW (To be watched) list!
I somehow missed this write-up last month but I love it. I feel like we're very much on the same page with shows right now! Finishing The Resident and White Lotus this week was a double whammy. Now I'm thinking... what's next!
Agree on The After Party. That show was so much fun!
βDying for sexβ on Hulu is my current watch. Itβs growing on me. I need to jump back into βDark Windsβ but as the title suggests itβs not a light show and Iβm feeling like I need to be consuming comfort in my watches lately. So yeah, incest, social satires, and murder, sign me up apparently
Looking forward to The Residence. We are still binging Sex Education.
Does Nicole Kidman ever sleep?
Looooved The Residence
I could have easily binged. So good!π

Beth! Youβre a Libra, too?! Considering our similar tastes in movies and shows, this tracks π
Yes! I love that. Libras unite. It totally tracks

Well you got us both with the rest of the astrological characteristics . Those are definitely on target π
That was fun! Thank you
Thank you for sharing. Iβm glad it was fun :) Injecting a little levity is the goal.

That's fair.
I remember Unfaithful, it was good! But then again so was Diane Lane!
So good. It was hard to watch because of its subject matter but I felt like the infidelity was handled responsibly and maturely.
Well, The Residence is definitely Back on my list now!
Yes! Wait, how did it end up off your list? Inquiring minds want to knowβ¦

Really enjoyed your take on White Lotus, Beth! And looking forward to The Residence (and, eventually, Season 2 of Point Ball).
