Yes, The White Lotus does pick up. Episode 2 leans into the dinner conversations (and petty and playful dynamics) and that Mike White does so well! You must watch.
Thanks for the tip on Plan A - will check it out. Thanks for dropping this note and sharing 😊
Enjoying The White Lotus v much. Watching Prime Target, which is kind of silly, full of Maths whiteboard montages and epiphanies, but it has the Leo Woodall factor and I’m committed to it now. Agree Conclave was perfect. Thank you for the round-up!
Thanks Wendy! Agreed on The White Lotus -can’t get enough of it.
Yes, the Leo Woodall of it all is hard to ignore. Of late, I enjoyed him in the new Bridget Jones. He’s such a charming actor. But this Prime Target stuff is really hard to stay engaged in. 😂
Prime Target is more fun if you have a bingo card for spotting Cambridge University clichés and ridiculous plot holes! But it is not appointment telly.
I'm enjoying Paradise. Zero day on the other hand was very entertaining (watched the whole thing last weekend) but I cannot remember anything I watched. It was just good in the moment but not memorable. AKA most of Netflix's new shows
100% I’ve been having more of these, “Wait. What happened in the last 5 mins?” and then go back and rewatch before the next episode - More so with “Zero Day” - Good callout!
Great roundup discussion. Whenever someone talks about a math centric plot my mind immediately goes to the 1997 Canadian horror film Cube where prime numbers may or may not be a central factor in the plot.
Definitely interested in Zero Day, big fan of political thrillers and the premise/execution from your description sounds intriguing.
I've joined the Zero Day bandwagon, and it is definitely giving me Paradise vibes (but maybe a touch less compelling?). Got lured into Apple Cider Vinegar - there's something about scam artists that I can't resist.
“scamanda” is always showing up in my feed! I refuse to click on the link for fear of more content of this ilk! 😂 Zero Day is not keeping me as hooked in the later two episodes as Paradise but there’s still enough Easter eggs to keep it fresh…
Thanks for the heads up on Zero Day and Paradise, Beth!
I've tried to get into Paradise's premiere a couple of times - feels slow like several pregnant pause-stares and double takes to make you wonder....and I kind went sooooo. I'll try again but since I didn't get into 'Lost' I may give up until I'm really completely outta options ;-)
I'm watching the new Reacher season...but stopped so I can binge-to-the-end later.
Yup, this comment proves that I may be very patient IRL but impatient with on-demand streaming-action!!🤣
Victoria- thank you for this. You know what? I’m the same way. I need a compelling hook and a pace/cadence that keeps me invested or else I’m out. I’ve become a non completist with shows and very “brutalist” with my ability to cut shows that don’t provide that gratification and fulfillment. Must be the intersection of being a business PR strategist (get to the point and respect people’s time) in my day work and TV consumer by night but I have zero day level patience for such frivolities. And give Paradise another try!
Wonderful rundown! Love JM in Jury Duty! Looking forward to checking out Paradise solely for the 80s ballads. Also, I’m fine with White Lotus being a bit slower this season, I love the Mike White character development —hopefully we get to see more insights with Parker Posey’s character and the friendship trio. And love that Zion is a key character in this one.
Does White Lotus pick up? The first episode was a bit slow.
Zero Day trailer did not inspire tho I love Jesse Plemmons.
Rogue Heroes sounds intriguing. We watched Plan A last night. Another WW II movie based on a true story. Very good.
Thx for the round up.

Started and did not get hooked- both Night Agent (loved the first season) and Prime Target. I’m giving Paradise a chance, but I’m not hooked yet.
So curious if you finish those two “started and did not get hooked!”
No, most likely not. The problem is there’s so much more out there, I’ll get hooked on something else.

Thanks Matthew. Also, I saw Cube! It was so weird.
Loved Gene Hackman. So great as Royal Tenenbaum. 💔
Indeed. Can’t believe it. Only saw “The Conversation”’in the past year and he was fantastic in that too.

Wait Mike White was behind Pushing Daisies?? I loved this show so much. It's probably at the top of my list of shows that ended way too soon.
Also I need to give both Paradise and Zero Day a chance now. I might start with Paradise for the 80s slow mo music
Hey there - So White was an actor in "Pushing Daisies" - He happens to have a memorable face which helps in these vault memory instances!
I thought you'd appreciate my "Prime Target" commentary :) Give Paradise a try!
Oh I did!! And I too googled why prime numbers are such a big deal 😂. I'm not sure I get it but it seems they are a big deal
If you don’t know there’s no hope for anyone else
You're giving me too much credit 😂.

RIP Mr. Hackman.
