The only one of these series I have seen is Bad Sisters and I really enjoyed it! Looking forward to Season 2! I've seen the first two episodes of The English Teacher but I'll reserve my comments until I've seen more of the season. Two more "secret" shows I like:
Life and Beth - Amy Schumer and Michael Cera were quite good in this dramedy that should have gotten more attention, particularly for the second season.
Stath Lets Flats - a very funny British comedy starring Jamie Demitriou. I think it's still available on Max
I love an under-the-radar show - makes me feel special 😆. Bad Sister is utterly brilliant, and I’ve considered Tehran more than once so I may now take the leap. But the vampire show… surely this is a must-watch! Thanks for all the recs
Good call outs Michelle! Thank you for sharing. I’m not familiar with “Found” but started “Poker Face” a while back. Did you watch “Russian Doll” on Netflix with Lyonne? That show was a mindbender.
Going to try 'Tehran'. Sounds like something I might like. Just watched 'Born Evil' on Max. I don't know what to say about it: I think it's the most repulsive true-crime series I've ever seen. Somehow absorbing, but I really wish I hadn't watched it. Parts of it stay with you, and not in a good way.
Damn I'm a bit disappointed that I have seen none of these shows. I will check out Interview With A Vampire for sure and I might add a few more to the list now.
Oh my lord, I've seen none of these! Been meaning to hit Dark Winds for forever, though, so maybe this is a sign?
And my own secret show is TIN STAR on Amazon. It's such a mesmerizing, slow burn show. The moment you think you have a handle on it and the characters, it just...doesn't do any of that. Created by Rowan Joffé, starring Tim Roth as an ex-undercover British cop reassigned to work as a Sheriff in a small mountain town in Canada. But his past from Britian follows him there, and the sheriff himself has something akin to a split personality. Roth and Genevieve O'Reilly are absolutely incendiary in this show, which has gotten almost no attention in the States. But holy cow do I recommend it. It might not be your bag - it's awfully unique in the way its plotted and paced, but I found it captivating.
Re: Dark Winds - It is a sign! Also consider me intrigued about the Tim Roth sheriff in Canada show. I saw this on Prime in the queue for the longest time. Adding it to my watchlist. I loved Roth in “Lie to Me” where he plays a psychologist/ facial expression expert who consults on criminal cases. Sort of a curmudgeonly, arrogant “House” (Hugh Laurie) like character but more likable. The relationship between him and his daughter on the show was very sweet too. Thanks for this tip. I will be trying it out!
Bad Sisters is the only one I’ve seen and I didn’t love it as much as you, mainly because the husband character is so over-the-top vile that it was hard to move past. But all the sisters are great, especially Eve Hewson.
I added Dark Winds to my queue and am excited to watch it.
One hidden gem that I wish was coming back for a 3rd season (also stars Sharon Horgan), is the brilliant This Way Up, starring Aisling Bea.
Dark Winds sounds good. I’ve watched Tehran and enjoyed it too. I might give the vampire one a try. I remember seeing it, and thinking no, because I wasn’t in a vampire mood. But sometimes shows you don’t think you’ll like surprise you. I’m so looking forward to the English Teacher. I hope we get it up here in Canada.
Thx Ingrid. The vampire one you definitely have to be in the mood for. Enjoy these shows! I’m curious now if Canada is getting good shows we don’t have here. Anything you’re aware of?
Wow. I have not seen any of these. Bad Sisters intrigues. Love Sharon Horgan.

I love “Life & Beth” so much so that Steve Goldberg and I did a piece on it a few months back https://open.substack.com/pub/bethlisogorsky/p/life-and-beth-season-2-hulu-review?r=eeh87&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web
I started watching “Staith lets flats” but didn’t continue for some reason. Maybe need to give it another go
Stath Lets Flats is woefully underrated, so funny!
Ok that’s two votes now for this show! I will give it a go
I’d love to hear what you think if you get to it, Beth (even if you don’t like it as much as I do 😅)!
Absolutely! Such a good time!

Tehran is great. Looking forward to new seasons
So glad to see another Tehran fan. I love that show. So glad it’s coming back.
Currently watching Interview With a Vampire-phenomenal show!! Poker Face and Found are also two shows that are WOEFULLY underrated. Both on Peacock.

Will add Russian Doll to my list!

I don’t think I can do “Born Evil”! It’s a serial killer and a true story. Oof. That’s tough!
Dark Winds is about to explode now that is on Netflix.
It’s exploding!!🤯
I’ll have to check out Dark Winds and Tehran!
I think you’ll enjoy. 😊

I'm also super curious about English Teacher.

Yes re: husband - he’s so cartoon villain bad it’s over the top. Though equally hard to watch is the wife, albeit for other reasons.
“This Way Up” is incredible and I wish it was coming back as well.
Tell me what you think of “Dark Winds” - have a feeling you’ll like it. Its better than “Sugar” the show we just couldn’t quit
Recommending English Teacher to my 6th grade teacher Chris!
It’s funny! Let me know their thoughts 💭
you got it, my friend!
